The study involved 30 painting workers selected using total sampling technique. Primary data were collected through structured questionnaires and interviews. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses, followed by the chi-square test using IBM SPSS statistics.<br /><strong>Results</strong>: The findings indicated a significant relationship between paint exposure and health complaints among painting workers in confined spaces (p=0.006). However, exposure to thinner (p=0.483) and solvent (p=0.224) was not significantly associated with health complaints. The most common complaints after painting activities in confined spaces were dizziness, eye irritation, shortness of breath, nausea, and fatigue.<br /><strong>Conclusions</strong>: Paint exposure was significantly associated with health complaints, whereas thinner and solvent exposure showed no significant relationship. These findings highlight the importance of implementing Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) measures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and adequate workplace ventilation, to reduce chemical exposure.<br /><strong>Limitations</strong>: This study was conducted in a single company with a relatively small sample size; therefore, the findings cannot be generalized to the entire shipbuilding industry.<br /><strong>Contributions</strong>: This study provides scientific evidence regarding the relationship between chemical exposure and health complaints among confined-space painting workers and may support the improvement of occupational safety and health programs in the shipbuilding industry</p> 2026-09-08T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Septy Anggraini, Taufik Kurrohman, Murniani Murniani, Rendita Dwibarto https://journals.goodwoodpub.com/index.php/jimi/article/view/5711 Kombucha and Colorectal Cancer: Unraveling the Microbiota-Metabolite-Host Axis as a Potential Mechanism for Prevention and Therapy 2025-10-29T11:44:08+00:00 Khairun Nisa Berawi khairun.nisa@fk.unila.ac.id Yasmin Nafisah Putri 2458011029@students.unila.ac.id Michelle Adiva michelleadiva2912@gmail.com Ade Yonata ade.yonata@fk.unila.ac.id Ihsanti Dwi Rahayu ihsanti.rahayu@fk.unila.ac.id <p><strong>Purpose: </strong>This review evaluates the potential role of kombucha in Colorectal Cancer (CRC) prevention and adjunctive therapy through the microbiota–metabolite–host axis, emphasizing bioactive compounds, fermentation metabolites, gut microbiota, oxidative-inflammatory pathways, immune responses, and carcinogenesis.<br /><strong>Methods: </strong>A review of studies published between 2015 and 2025 was conducted using PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. Experimental, preclinical, clinical, and review evidence on kombucha, fermented tea, microbiota, microbial metabolites, probiotics, prebiotics, oxidative stress, inflammation, CRC, and anticancer mechanisms was synthesized.<br /><strong>Results: </strong><span lang="ZH-CN">Kombucha may modulate the gut microbiota, metabolism, oxidative stress, inflammation, immunity, proliferation, and apoptosis through its bioactive compounds. However, evidence for the prevention or treatment of CRC remains largely preclinical.<br /></span><strong>Conclusions: </strong>Kombucha may provide a mechanistic basis for investigating its use as a dietary adjunct for CRC prevention and supportive care; however, its therapeutic efficacy requires confirmation in human studies.<br /><strong>Limitations: </strong>Evidence is limited by heterogeneous fermentation conditions, composition, microbial communities, metabolite profiles, insufficient strain-specific characterization, and scarce standardized human interventions.<br /><strong>Contributions: </strong>This review integrates kombucha evidence within a microbiota–metabolite–host framework, connecting fermented tea bioactives, microbial ecology, metabolite signaling, intestinal homeostasis, and CRC pathways, while identifying priorities for metabolomic, microbiome, mechanistic, and clinical research.</p> 2026-09-08T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Khairun Nisa Berawi, Yasmin Nafisah Putri, Michelle Adiva, Ade Yonata, Ihsanti Dwi Rahayu
